Stupid 13 Year Olds Plan To Get Married And Have A Baby

Jacksonville, North Carolina – June 2, 2014

Alex Shermer and Alex Smith have known each other since the age of four and began dating at age nine. Now the young couple is ready to settle down and have a baby.

“I think we were first attracted to each other because we have the same first name and the same initials. We thought that was awesome! But our friendship became true love. I’ll never forget the first love note she passed me at lunch… my heart beat so fast reading it. I know we’re young, but we’re ready to settle down. I love this girl so much!” Shermer said.

Anyone under age 14 cannot get married under North Carolina law. 14 and 15 year olds must have a court order. To temporarily get around this law, Shermer and Smith talked to both of their parents and the parents remarkably agreed to let the kids have a fake ceremony in the park. They chose the park so all the kids who hopefully will attend the wedding can play on the park equipment after.

The couple will apply for the court order when both turn fourteen.

“All of us are behind this,” Bill Shermer said, speaking on behalf of the parents. “I mean, it took us a while to adjust to the kids’ idea. But the kids are in love and we’re excited about the prospect of having a grandchild at such a young age. All the parents are in their thirties so that’ll give us forty to sixty years with the grandchild. Most grandparents don’t get that. It’s a win-win.”

After the ceremony the couple plans to start trying for a baby. The couple will live in the Shermer household and while Alex Shermer will need his parents to support the young couple financially, he plans to get an afterschool job at a local golf course washing carts.

“The job at the golf course pays minimum wage to start, but it could for sure lead to something better. Maybe I could work in the pro shop selling golf clubs for a better hourly rate plus commissions on sales.”

Mr. Shermer added: “The more we’ve thought about this, the more we’ve realized that if the homosexuals can get married why can’t children who’ve reached puberty? It doesn’t make sense, but we’ve only got a year to wait and see, so I’m not letting that inequality bother me too much.”

If her pregnancy is successful, the young mother plans to quit school so she can attend to the baby full-time.

“I’m so ready to have this baby,” Alex Smith said. “I can’t wait! I’m just so happy our parents are behind this! They’re so cool!”
