LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS – Tanya Bob, 33, had a big wedding planned, but her boyfriend, Walter, 68, who’s employed as a Walmart greeter, was called into work and explicitly told he would lose his job if he did not report.
So Tanya decided they would just have the wedding while Walter worked. “We only had fifteen people, so it wasn’t a big scene,” Ms. Bob said. “But the automatic doors kept opening and closing as people came through, and Walter having to say ‘Welcome to Walmart,’ kept interrupting our vows. And while it wasn’t an ideal wedding, he had to wear his Walmart vest instead of his new suit, we got through it as fast as possible and now we’re married!” Management later discovered Walter had gotten married on the job and terminated his employment. “I don’t know if Walter will be able to find another job at his age, but at least we have my disability checks.”
