Man Attacked By Polar Bear Plans Lawsuit

SAN DIEGO – Invited to a private fundraising party at the San Diego Zoo to see and meet two young polar bear cubs John Edsall got more than just a few cute photos: He was attacked by one of the cubs, leaving scratch and minor bite marks on his legs and ankles. Marks plans to seek a million dollar settlement for pain and suffering.

“Just because it was a cub doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt,” Edsall’s attorney Randall Marks said. “John has emotional and psychological trauma. He’s having trouble sleeping as he continues to relive the vicious attack. I don’t think he’ll ever be able to look at any kind of bear again, maybe not even pictures of bears or nature documentaries about bears. And it’s sad because he really loved bears.”

A spokesperson from the San Diego zoo said while the attack should not have happened it was very minor and the zoo would be happy to pay for any doctor or counseling bills,  but calls the looming suit beyond outrageous.
